“Because Heruka is always at the practitioner’s heart, inseparable from him or her, anyone who sees, hears, touches or remembers such a practitioner will definitely receive Heruka’s blessings. Practitioners have the great power to heal themselves and to accumulate merit and wisdom; they can quickly accomplish attainments through meditation and recitation of the mantras.” – Buddha, The Root Tantra of Heruka and Vajrayogini
To lead living beings to the supreme happiness of enlightenment, all the Buddhas’ compassion appears in the form of Heruka who has a blue-colored body, four faces and twelve arms, and embraces the consort Vajravarahi. Je Phabongkhapa had direct visions of Heruka. At one time Heruka told him, “For seven generations, the practitioners of your instructions of Heruka and Vajrayogini will have the special good fortune to easily accomplish the realizations of these practices.” Who are these practitioners? We are. In this retreat, our Resident Teacher, Gen Norbu, will guide us along the path of the essential meditations in The Yoga of Buddha Heruka sadhana.
