From Chaos to Calm
Morning Retreat on Buddhist Refuge

Sat, Jan 4:  10 am – 1 pm
The teaching (10 am – 11:30 am) will be available via zoom for members only.
Refuge vows (optional) will be offered at 12 noon for attendees (vows not available via zoom).

Where do we turn when our life feels out of control? Do we have the support we need for our spiritual practice? Is inner peace really possible?

This is an opportunity for those who are interested to deepen their practice of going for refuge to the Three Jewels, Buddha, Dharma and Sangha, in order to gain protection from suffering and make progress along the spiritual path to enlightenment. By learning to keep the refuge commitments, we will easily gain protection from fear and harm, and in particular from strong delusions that hold us back. In the first session, Gen Jindak will explain the meaning of Buddhist Refuge.

In the second session those who wish can formally take refuge vows in a special ceremony. By taking these vows we commit ourselves to finding happiness from within by relying upon Buddha, Dharma and Sangha throughout our life. Through this we enter into Buddhism and become a Buddhist. This is a very special opportunity to take the vows for the first time or to retake your vows.

During then the next weekend, January 11 – 12, we can put refuge into practice during our guided meditation retreat.
