“Where is there virtue equal to this? Where is there even such a friend? Where is there merit such as this?” – Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life, Shantideva (AD 687-763)
The “six perfections” of giving, moral discipline, patience, effort, concentration, and wisdom were extensively explained by the great 8th century Indian Buddhist master Shantideva. These practices transcend time and place, and are just as relevant for us today as they were centuries ago. They reveal how we too can live our best life, ripening and liberating our Buddha Nature, and attaining enlightenment for the benefit of others, even in these modern times. Gen Norbu will give commentary to many of Shantideva’s original verses, indicating how we can practically apply them in meditation as well as in daily life.
