“Mantra means ‘mind protection’.” – Tantric Grounds and Paths, Geshe Kelsang Gyatso

Making a mala, or rosary of prayer beads, is more than just an arts & crafts project. If done mindfully, it is a spiritual practice in itself, and the object we create is also special, becoming more and more blessed as we use it. Mantra recitation is an essential element of many spiritual practices, as a way of requesting protection, blessings, and attainments. Learn how to make your own mala, as well as some simple mantras to connect with enlightened beings such as Buddha Shakyamuni, Avalokiteshvara, and Tara.

Each participant may keep one of the malas they make; extra malas will be donated to the center shop.

Registration Policy: If you cancel 24 hours prior to commencement of the event we will refund all except 25%. If you cancel on, or after, the event, no refunds are given. Exceptions may be made in circumstances such as sickness or bereavement; you should apply by e-mail to within 2 weeks of the end of the Event. Any non-refunded fees arising from cancellations are donated to the NKT-IKBU International Temples Project.
