“In general, ‘Buddha’ means ‘Awakened One,’ someone who has awakened from the sleep of ignorance and sees things as they really are.” – Introduction to Buddhism, Geshe Kelsang Gyatso

The life story of Buddha is not just a historical account of the extraordinary life and deeds of the founder of the Buddhist religion in this world. It is also a teaching by example, from which we can learn many things about our own life and spiritual path. In this special social event, our Resident Teacher, Gen Norbu, will introduce Buddha’s story, bringing out several details that are especially relevant and applicable to spiritual life in modern times. Following this, there will be a delicious vegetarian meal, and we will watch a movie of Buddha’s life, based on the play The Life of Buddha which used to be performed live at the International Kadampa Summer Festival in England every year.

Registration Policy: If you cancel 24 hours prior to the start of the event we will refund all except 25%. If you cancel on, or after, the event, no refunds are given. Exceptions may be made in circumstances such as sickness or bereavement; you should apply by e-mail to within 2 weeks of the end of the Event. Any non-refunded fees arising from cancellations are donated to the NKT-IKBU International Temples Project.
