Stillness Within
A Silent Day Retreat on Tranquil Abiding

Sat, June 20:  10 am – 3 pm
With Resident Teacher Gen Jindak

Our mind is extremely powerful and creative, but until we develop concentration we have no means to harness our mind’s power and use it to deeply transform our life and our world. By training in concentration, we will develop mental peace and contentment, we will have fewer distractions, and we will be able to focus more freely on whatever we wish, creating extraordinary change in our lives.

Buddha’s method for training in concentration leads us to a special quality of mind called “tranquil abiding,” a deeper level of concentration that arises through training in meditation in a systematic way.

On a silent retreat we stop ordinary busyness and start to attune to the beauty that is found within. This beauty and peace we discover inside ourselves makes us feel happy with ourselves. We become free of insecurities and low self-esteem, always thinking that the answer to feel better is “out there.” Instead, we just relax and understand what we have been looking for—happiness—has always been inside.
